Biography

Imelda Graham, M.Phil, has worked on national and transnational projects: including serving on the board of the European Training and Development Federation for a number of years, culminating in being elected President. She has worked with the National After School Association in the United States, and presented at conferences in the US, UK and Europe. Imelda is currently Chairperson of the National Childhood Network in Ireland. Previously Imelda served on the Board of the Irish Institute of Training and Development for many years. Imelda has had a central role in staff training and upskilling in the childcare sector, including pioneering distance learning approaches and innovative forms of accreditation and certification. She works with Technological University of Dublin in innovative education access for those in the early childhood education and childcare sectors in Ireland.

In addition to working with ULS on EU projects, in particular E-Step and CAREM (a Comenius Multilateral Project led by University of Nicosia, which developed curriculum-linked resources for teachers to support primary age children in schools to understand Equality and Diversity), Imelda participated in the DICE initiative (Development of Intercultural Education) in Ireland. She had a leading role in materials design with the EU APPs project on cyberbullying (2017-20) pioneering teacher learning modules in digital prevention.

Imelda’s post-graduate qualifications include a diploma from National University of Ireland, Galway in Equality and Diversity and a M.Phil. from Technological University of Dublin in Training and Development (2006). She established a multilingual kindergarten for children aged 2-12 in the Pikpa refugee camp in Lesbos, Greece from 2014-16. Imelda has published over seven textbooks for pre-primary educators, including on Equality and Diversity, Transitions, CPD, Environments, Legislation and others, with Barnardos Ireland. Imelda was National Training Director with Barnardos until 2013.
