Steve is a qualified teacher and he has a Masters in Management Development and Social Responsibility from the University of Bristol and a Master in Professional Studies in Children’s Play from the University of Gloucester. He has been working in the early years sector for nearly forty years and in community development and parenting support for nearly as long. He became fascinated with young children when his daughter was born and gave up work to care for her. He has worked in a variety of early years settings in many different roles, teacher, manager, policy and more. He has worked for many years as a trainer and researcher in early years and childhood studies. Currently a part-time lecturer in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick teaching on early years and education courses, he also mentors students with the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). His interest is in children’s play particularly how we can document and plan for play in early years services. He has several other roles in community development, providing parenting programmes, and most recently running therapeutic play sessions for Ukrainian children who have come to live in the west of Ireland.
